3 NEW Exceptional Wines from Frescobaldi

The history of Brunello di Montalcino begins in 1800 in Montalcino where Clemente Santi began experimenting with a clone of Sangiovese: Sangiovese Grosso, called ‘brunello’ because of the dark color of the berries. The legend of Brunello developed thanks to his grandson Ferruccio Biondi-Santi who began began to produce wine selecting only the best grapes and creating, around 1870, a delicate yet powerful red wine. Today Brunello di Montalcino is famous around the world and represents a point of excellence of Italian enology.

Frescobaldi Brunello De Montalcino

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG is produced by CastelGiocondo of Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi using the Sangiovese grape. Castelgiocondo is one of the five prestigious estates owned by the Frescobaldi family that, fully respecting the Tuscan tradition, harvests manually, choosing only the best grapes.

Characteristics of Brunello di Montalcino
The terrain of the estate, rich in clay and calcium, favors the production of a Brunello di Montalcino of superior quality, able to provoke emotions through the olfactory senses as well as on the palate. A visual examination reveals a bold ruby-red color, which perfectly fulfills the desire of those who seek beauty in wine. Raising the glass to one’s lips, the typical fragrances of Brunello arrive directly at one’s nose: fruit, blackberries, currants and cherries.

97 Points ~ James Suckling,, September 2020
A full and compelling flavor, the typical wine of Montalcino is the ideal pairing for aged cheeses, roast and stewed boar.

This is a pure and beautiful Brunello with super fine and abundant tannins that are comprehensive and expansive. Builds on the palate. Full body. Round and firm with beautiful fruit and length. Lively and vivid. From organically grown grapes. Needs a year or two to soften, but already gorgeous.

96 Points ~ Wine Enthusiast, May 2020
Aromas of ripe dark-skinned berry, violet, underbrush and warm spice emerge in the glass, along with a whiff of camphor. Full bodied and enveloping, the structured palate delivers raspberry jam, dried black cherry, licorice and tobacco alongside firm fine-grained tannins. It closes on an espresso note. Drink 2023–2030. KERIN O’KEEFE

93 Points ~ Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, October 2020
I tasted this wine next to Frescobaldi's Chianti Classico Gran Selezione from their Tenuta Perano, and the differences between that wine and this are enormous. The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino CastelGiocondo takes us to the southern side of Tuscany, and despite the fact the grape used in both wines is the same (Sangiovese), these two wine are as different as day and night. This Brunello gives you more saturated color intensity, more substantial weight and density that you feel on all the senses. Its extraction is much thicker, and the bouquet opens to aromas of plummy dark fruit, black currant, tobacco and spice. That ample width and power make this a good choice next to a grilled T-bone steak.

93 Points ~ Wine Spectator, June 2020
Bright, with cherry and berry fruit, shaded by almond, leather, tobacco and wild herb notes. Firm, dusty tannins gird the long finish. Combines power and grace. Best from 2023 through 2040. 25,000 cases made, 2,000 cases imported. — BS

Frescobaldi Chianti Classic Perano

Frescobaldi's property in Chianti Classico Tenuta Perano, is located on the hills of Gaiole in Chianti with vineyards 1500 feet above sea level. The south, southwestern exposure and the amphitheatre-shaped layout magnifies the exposure to the sun and concentrates the heat from it. The combination of elevation, exposure, and the shape and slope of the vineyards offers and extraordinarily unique quality setting that results in brilliant purple wines possessed of intensely fruity aromas and a great tannic structure rife with elegance.

Once harvested by hand, the grapes were vinified in stainless steel vats at controlled temperature. Maceration on the skins with frequent pumping over allowed for perfect  extraction of the polyphenolic substances, providing just the right color intensity and typical structure. The wine was then partially aged in wood casks, delicately enriching the bouquet.

James Suckling scored this 93 points saying "This shows beautiful energy and brightness with black-cherry and orange-peel aromas and flavors. Medium body. Tight and focused."

Wine Spectator scored this 92 points saying "A beautiful expression of ripe black cherry, black currant and violet notes, accented by graphite, tobacco and tar hints. Shows muscle, with some grip on the finish. Best from 2020 through 2030."

This wine was featured on the cover of the May 2020 issue of Decanter Magazine. It scored a whopping 95 points and the tasters' comments included "Dense on the palate with silky ripe fruit along with perfectly integrated structure. A great wine with great potential." "Very beautiful and engaging, long, concentrated and intense."

Frescobaldi Pomino

From one of the most suitable areas in Tuscany for the production of white wines, at altitudes that reach 700 metres, comes a superbly elegant and refined blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco.

Tasting notes: Bright and vibrant in color, Pomino Bianco boasts glorious floral notes that come together in perfect harmony with predominant aromas of pear and peach and hints of grapefruit and bergamot when tasted. Its smoothness and freshness are beautifully balanced. This flavorsome wine tantalises the palate with hints of fruit and lightly toasted notes, and its complex and delightful array of aromas—worthy of a white that has been famous for centuries—will stay with you.

Dupeuble Nouveau 2020
$12.99 Limited

Here is a very nice Beaujolais from Kermit Lynch.
Longtime customers don’t even bother with the name Dupeuble when ordering this perennially delicious Gamay. “Just give me a case of Kermit’s Beaujolais,” they’ll say. The 2019 is a big wine for the domaine, powerful and slightly tannic, with good ripeness balanced by great acidity, structure, and minerality. When the new vintage arrives each year, it’s like an old friend coming to visit.
—Dustin Soiseth

After being bottled, it rests for five months before release.

Tasting notes: Pale yellow in color with tinges of legume green. On the nose, pleasant aromas of white flowers, apricots, and pears. A pleasant and crisp wine with balanced acidity and good structure. Fresh, zippy, and persistent on the palate and finishes seamlessly.

3 NEW from The Busker Irish Whiskey ~ The Busker Single Collection

In the history of Ireland, the centuries-old production of whiskey has always consisted of three classic styles: Single Grain, Single Malt and Single Pot Still. At once guided by a futuristic vision and firmly founded in tradition, the Single Collection is the utmost expression of the soul of the Royal Oak Distillery, where three classic Irish whiskeys are produced all under one roof.
“Welcome to Royal Oak, the home of Irish whiskey”.

The Busker Single Pot Still

The Busker Single Pot Irish Whiskey is born out of a modern Ireland, where the contemporary and bold meet at the crossroads of tradition. It can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, as a shot, or in a cocktail!

The Busker Single Grain Irish Whiskey

The secret to our Single Grain is in choosing the highest quality spirits and maturing them in our hand selected Bourbon casks from USA and rare Marsala cask from one of the oldest Sicilian wineries – Cantine Florio 1833. The Busker Single Grain is a light, pale straw colored whiskey. The taste begins by offering sweet caramel and moving to soft vanilla and oak notes. On the palate you will experience notes of caramel, vanilla, oak and hay. The finish is a long, dry and sweet. Matured and finished in bourbon and marsala casks.

The Busker Single Malt Irish Whiskey

Luscious fruity mouthfeel.
The Busker Single Malt is a delightful discovery, an intense journey into the realm of taste. The whiskey is distilled in large copper stills, then matured in two different woods to bring you a complexity that is waiting to be experienced. The Busker Single Malt is a deep golden whiskey. It begins with an arrangement of fruit, which gently leaves space to an explosion of pine essence and malt biscuit. The palate is very intense, with rich, chocolate notes. The whiskey concludes with a sweet and creamy finish.
Matured and finished in Bourbon and sherry casks.

Ballotin Peanut Butter Chocolate Whiskey

Boulevard Deep Flux Barley Wine, Limited

DEEP (adj) extending far down from the top or surface.
FLUX (n) describes something that constantly changes

"A while back, we took our friends at 3 Floyds on a long strange trip down a deep, dark hallway past thousands of our bourbon, rum, tequila, and red wine barrels. We stopped to rest next to a collection of rye whiskey and Madeira wine casks, and after a few beers, we agreed that, yes, these were the chosen ones. A couple more beers and we heard them tell us they wanted to be filled with barleywine – and when barrels speak, we listen."

Deep Flux is a unique, pale barleywine that pours a rich auburn color with aromas of brown sugar, oak, and dark stone fruit. This malty brew is beautifully complimentary of its barrel aging, which spent 100% of its process in wood barrels and broke down into 60% in rye whiskey barrels and 40% in Madeira wine casks. The end result for Deep Flux is a big and boisterous barleywine with resplendent flavors of rye, Madeira, and oak lurking in the barrels. 14.3% ABV, 20 IBUs
