Peay Pinot Noir
Sonoma County, California

The Sonoma Coast bottling includes a majority of the 15 Pinot noir clones Peay grows on the 35 acre Pinot noir vineyard and over-delivers for its price point. It deftly captures the signature savory, earth, floral and fruit profile that makes the West Sonoma Coast and Peay Pinot Noirs unique. The bright nose on the Sonoma Coast Pinot noir is a knock-out featuring spice-laden ginger bread and tobacco leaf aromas accenting a raspberry and cherry core of fruit. There is real depth on the palate without fat and the round mouthfeel on the mid palate is held in check by light tannins that soften with air. A mixture of hibiscus, brine, and dried herbes de Provence flavors linger on the long finish. The balance of fruit, floral, and earth make this a very compelling and engaging wine.

92 Points Vinous: The 2016 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) is a gorgeous entry-level wine from Peay. Gracious and light on its feet. Sweet red cherry, kirsch, rose petal and mint soar out of the glass. Pliant, silky and nuanced, the 2016 has so much to recommend it. The flavors are a touch exotic, but that is naturally more of an observation than a critique.

Failla Pinot Nior 
Sonoma Coast, California

Leading off the reds, theFailla Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast offers a soft, forward, charming style as well as textbook notes of red fruits (cherries, raspberries), spice, and forest floor. Readers looking for a taste of the quality and style of this estate should grab a bottle as it’s a good value. - Jeb Dunnuck, 90 pts



EIEIO Swine Wine Pinot Nior

Swine Wine – a.k.a Charlotte’s Choice or Wilbur’s Reserve

Textbook Pinot noir aromatics, texture and finish. Pretty and clean as well as fruity with a bright yet big finish. Drink it now or cellar. This is a fine wine at a fine price.

Fresh and clean aromatically with a sweet basil shredded over blood orange slices aroma. Laser focused and linear-like, narrowing in on Rainier cherries with a dusting of freshly grated cinnamon.

Once imbibed, you have a juicy core of black cherries with a dusting of brown sugar and cup of tarragon tea steeping nearby. Drink this sweet young wine down easy as it refreshes across the mouth. Mid-palate shows the comforting toasted graham cracker component topped with red plum jam and ground pink pepper corns.

Finish is clean and refreshing like a blackberry sorbet. This wine, while drinking well now, will certainly cellar for another five to seven easily. Share it with your friends without guilt and spread the word on EIEIO & Company with some humor. – Jay

Averaen Pinot Nior

Averaen was born out of a love for cool climate Pinot Nor. Oregon’s Willamette Valley offers an ideal growing climate, where strong winds blow from the nearby Pacific Ocean, and the mix of ancient volcanic soils and marine sediments from a prehistoric ocean floor lend intense minerality and complexity to the Pinot Noir grapes grown on them. Simple sustainable farming, hands-off winemaking and a passion for Pinot Noir dictates Averaen’s mission.

Hourglass Blueline Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley, California

The Blueline Estate Cabernet Sauvignon (BLCS) has benefited more from Tony Biagi’s deft winemaking skill than any wine in our portfolio. 2016 was the year it all came together for the Blueline Cabernet. Subtle changes in farming and winemaking since Tony’s first vintage in 2012, have resulted in a wine of incredible refinement, balancing power, delicacy and a layered complexity. Aromatically, the ’16 BLCS beckons with an intoxicating bright rose petal floral scent, intermingling with a stony graphite and a waterfall of red and black fruit aromas that transcend to the first palate impression. Dimension and layering is the nature of the ’16 BLCS with a complex weave of pure fruit flavors and the stripe of graphite carrying forward from the cascade of aromas, through the long finish. One can imagine the stony cobble of the Blueline Estate as it passes across the palate.

Finely pixelated tannins yield a refined texture that is just the right balance of silky sleekness to an appropriate level of grip for a long thoughtful finish. The purity and freshness of fruit is striking, with a complex interplay of dark black berry bramble and tangy dark sour cherry notes. Fresh vibrant acid yields a tensional balance against the rich saturated fruit flavors. Deep in complex flavors, yet vibrant. The structure of this wine is serious and provides the interlocking chemical web for long term cellaring. That said, Tony’s mastery and refinement of tannin makes this wine compelling in its youth. It’s your call if you want to enjoy it now, or cellar it for 20+ years. Blueline Estate Cabernet is the culmination of 10 years of vineyard study atBlueline and Tony’s mastery of the Estate. 2016 represents a watershed vintage for the Blueline Estate Cabernet. ~ Jeff Smith, September 2018

Hourglass Blueline Estate Merlot
Napa Valley, California

Wine Advocate: 91 Points: The deep purple-black colored 2016 Merlot Blueline Estate sings of crème de cassis, dried mulberries and mincemeat pie with hints of wilted roses, fallen leaves, cigar box and cloves. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the mouth with juicy, plushly textured black fruits and finishes with a menthol kick.

Gaston Chiquet Cuvée Tradition Champagne Brut

As its name implies, a classic blended Champagne: 40% Pinot Meunier, 35% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Noir, incorporating base wines from more than one harvest.

The cuvée tradition has been honored at the Nobel Banquet 2013.

Representative of the terroir from which it is produced: supple and fine with good length.

Pol Roger Reserve Champagne

The Brut Réserve is a blend in equal parts of the three champenois grape varieties: pinot noir, pinot meunier and chardonnay from 30 different crus. 25% reserve wines are used to produce this cuvée:

- The Pinot Noir (bringing structure, body and power) is mainly produced from some of the best crus of the Montagne de Reims.

- The Pinot Meunier (ensuring freshness, roundness and fruitiness) is issued from several crus from the Vallée de la Marne and from the Epernay area.

- The Chardonnay (adding its aromatic complexity, finesse, elegance and lightness) comes from Epernay and some of the best crus of the Côte des Blancs.

After four years ageing in the cellars, its style combines complexity, balance and distinction.

Laurent Perrier Cuvée Rosé Champagne

La Cuvée Rosé was created in 1968 from the boldness and know-how of the House of Laurent-Perrier. Perfected at each stage of its making, Cuvée Rosé is acknowledged for its consistency and its high quality. It is characterized by its ripe red fruit aromas, a high intensity and great freshness.  

Mercat Brut Lon Dosage Cava 

A delicate bead in the glass of soft golden color. The nose bursts with rich pear, green apple and hints of cream. On the palate the wine shows great finesse and balance with notes of papaya and pear rounded out with hints of hazelnuts, finishing with crisp acidity and freshness.

Scarffenberger Brut Excellence

The wine is approximately 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir. The full malolactic style adds a vanilla cream character producing a round and full-bodied wine. After approximately two years on the lees, there are notes of freshly baked bread and pastry that enhances the more fruit forward style of the wine. Finally, after several months on the cork, the wine develops caramel and hazel complexors.

Raptor Ridge Brut Rosé

A topaz-toned Brut Rose’ made from 100% Vineyard Designated Pinot Noir, crisp and lithe on the palate with creamy bubbles. Sitting at about 750 feet in the Chehalem Mountains AVA, Harbinger is a tiny, high-elevation, densely-spaced vineyard that produces a lot of fruit and requires a lot of handwork. At 2,364 vines per acre, Harbinger does not ripen very quickly, which can be problematic in cooler vintages. In late October of 2011 with November rains facing us, the grapes were still lean and mean. We looked at the numbers, tasted the grapes, and determined that it was time to launch our long-awaited “Method Champenoise” program. We’d been wanting to start our own little “grower champagne” label, and Mother Nature just backed us right into that bubbly little corner!

Presqu’ile Chard Santa Barbara County
Santa Barbara County, California

Vinous: 91 Points: The Presqu'iles Chardonnay is all class. Subtly tropical notes, wild flowers, chamomile, apricot and mint are all laced together in a soft, open-knit Chardonnay that will drink well upon release. The Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay is essentially the estate's second selection from the Presqu'ile estate vineyard. -- Antonio Galloni

EIEIO Cuvee Chardonnay 

For the first time since 2008, an “Everyday” Chardonnay. This is from three vineyards within the Willamette Valley which I lease. Harvested at the edge of ripeness, this is a bright and refreshing Chardonnay yet has plenty of texture to make you happy. All made in the “Black Chardonnay” method, this too will last for another fifteen years, that is correct.

Bright citrus nose of lemon-lime sorbet followed by fresh apples and ripe apricots. The entry is smooth yet refreshing as the acidity opens the palate for more sophisticated flavors ranging from oyster nectar to salted plums. Long lasting finish in a white wine at this price is unheard of these days.

Pine Ridge Carneros Chardonnay
Napa Valley, California

Gleaming radiant gold, Pine Ridge's Chardonnay sings from the glass with enticing aromas of lemon peel, fresh white flowers and citrus blossom, interlaced with subtle notes of lemon tart, ground nutmeg and honeyed graham cracker. The wine exhibits a rounded mouthfeel with refreshing acidity, opening with bright flavors of pineapple juice, sweet candied lemon and creamy lemon curd, leading into hints of white nectarine, yellow pear and vanilla bean that linger through the clean, lasting finish. $31.99

Peay Estate Chardonnay 
Sonoma, California

Ninety percent of the 2016 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is made from barrels of Peay's Estate Chardonnay plus ten percent from Searby Vineyard farmed by Charlie Heintz in Occidental. The nose on the 2016 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is quite pretty featuring lemon merengue, white peach, ginger, and lemon thyme notes. The mouth confirms the nose though there is a pronounced lime and Granny Smith apple fruit profile that delightfully lights a path from the front of the palate to the finish. The wine has medium weight across the mid palate and also finishes with a salty, briny flavor on a clean, crisp, and long finish. Superb to enjoy now and will age beautifully due to the wonderful acidity and freshness of the style. $53.99

Hourglass Sauvignon Blanc 

Hourglass Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of contrasting vineyards: Larkmead Lane, with its alluvial gravel beds just down the street from Blueline, elicits a vibrancy, stony minerality, and crisp Granny Smith apple tang; and Varozza in St. Helena, with its 46 year-old head-trained vines and intensely rich, pure fruit. Between the vineyards and the three fermentations (stainless steel, seasoned oak and new oak), we make up to seven distinctly different interpretations before blending to create a complex, layered wine that is both vibrant and rich.

Primary aromas of lemon and lime zest, orange blossom and Granny Smith apples are followed on the palate with flavors of limeade, hay, white peach, pineapple and vanilla bean.

Mer Soleil Chardonnay Santa Barbara County

Even subtle differences in growing conditions can strongly influence a wine's character. As the second site where we have planted Chardonnay vineyards, beautiful Santa Barbara County is slightly warmer than the Santa Lucia Highlands. At harvest we pick the grapes a little earlier, creating a wine with natural acidity and crispness. This wine offers the lush flavor of apricots and has a luxurious round mouth feel.
